Irakli Zedginidze Still Requests 2, 700 million GEL Won in Slot Club

October 11, 2010
30-year-old Irakli Zedginidze still requests 2, 700 million GEL he had won in the slot club “Vegas” in Tbilisi.

On October 8, Zedginidze’ attorney Giorgi Zhorzholiani said at the press-conference that they would continue their fight till the end and if it is necessary they will even appeal to Strasbourg Court.

He said they have already appealed to the court, prosecutor’s office and to the corresponding department within the ministry of finances and requested them to compel the slot club to implement its obligations.

The attorney clarified that the government should also involve in this affair and compel the “Vegas” to implement its obligations to pay the money to the winner because it is shameful for the country.

“Many foreigners visit slot-clubs and casinos in Georgia. When there is precedent that a winner cannot be paid the winning sum, the visitors will not trust in the slot-clubs and casinos. There is no similar precedent in the world when the winners are not paid the winning money. When players were losing 10 000 and 20 000 GEL the apparatus were in order then but now when a person won the large some, the owners claim the apparatus went wrong,” said Giorgi Zhorzholiani and added that if the won money is not paid, the state budget will also lose income. Zedginidze will have to pay income tax to the state budget and in his case it is half million GEL.

The attorney said that the fact of winning the 2, 700 million GEL is proved by the protocol of the patrol police officer which states that Zedginidze won the abovementioned sum.

Zedginidze started playing by one lari and won jackpot.
