Bus Driver States that Police Fined Him for Transportation of Oppossition Supporters

October 12, 2010
Officials of Patrol Police Kakheti Agency issued fines of 200-200 GEL against the bus drivers who transferred the opposition supporters from Signagi Region to Tbilisi for taking part in the “national gathering”on September 29th.

According to statement of bus drivers, patrol police officials issued the fine receipt for violating the transportation rules, but didn’t hide the real motivation of fining.

“On October 2th, while transferring passengers from Tbilisi I was stopped in Bakurtsikhe and issued with 200 GEL fine. I was told directly that the reason of fine was taking people to opposition gathering. On the same night I found out that other 5 bus drivers were also fines,” – stated the driver of one of the mini buses.

Patrol Police Kakheti Agency won’t comment on the issue.
