The Teacher Blames the Pupil in Beating

October 13, 2010
The teacher of Georgian language and literature at Kardenakhi Public School Lili Odishelidze blames the 7th form pupil in beating. The teacher appealed to the Gurjaani police department. According to the Kakheti News Center, the incident occurred at the lesson. The teacher insulted the pupil and it annoyed the pupil.

According to Maka Ghlighvashvili, director of the Kardenakhi Public School, the pupil has mental problem. “You can notice it at the first sight that he has mental problems. His family is very poor and he is usually very aggressive. As for the incident, the pupil was reprimanded according to the decision of the disciplinary committee of the school”, the school director noted. She denied the information which states that the director also beats the same pupil for punishment.

“This is not true at all. Tell me who provided you with this information and then we will check it. Nobody will confirm it”, Maka Ghlighashvili stated.

The elder pupils of the Kardenakhi School reported to the Kakheti News Center that the school director sometimes beats the pupil of the 9th form, who is blamed in beating the teacher.

According to the district polyclinic, the adult is quite healthy though the school director claimed he had mental problems.

The adult denies the information about beating the teacher. He said the teacher had cursed him and it annoyed him but he had not beaten the teacher.

The criminal case was launched based on the teacher’s suit at the Gurjaani district police department. The investigation is carried out under Article 118 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia which envisages deliberate damage of health. The crime is punished by three year imprisonment.

The “Human Rights Center” took up the case to protect the adult. According to the lawyer of the human rights organization, the case is being investigated. But testimonies of several people clarify that the adult was often insulted at school.
