EU Mission in Georgia Studies Cases of the Attorneys

The EU Mission in Georgia studies cases of the attorneys. Zaza Khatiashvili the chairman of the Georgian Bar Association reported about it to the “Inerpresnews”.

According to his clarification, the EU Mission in Georgia met those attorneys who are being persecuted by the government.

As Khatiashvili said, the representatives of the EU Mission met Attorney Vladimir Tabaghua whom prison administration seized letter of the prisoner at the detention setting. They also met the mother of attorney Mariam Ivelishvili who is arbitrarily detained; Shalva Khachapuridze, who was attacked but the incident is not investigated yet; Natia Chirikashvili, who was searched at the entrance of the prison like other attorneys, as well as Zaza Khatiashvili.

“They search especially female attorneys; they check their breasts in order to prevent them from taking anything illegal into the prison”, Khatiashvili noted.

According to Zaza Khatiashvili, he had requested the EU Mission in Georgia to study those cases.
