Custom Officers Do Not Allow Students from Azerbaijan to Bring Their Bags in Georgia

October 21, 2010
Students from Saingilo, who learn at various high schools in Georgia, complain about the officers of the Lagodekhi Custom House. The students reported to the Kakheti News Center that custom officers do not allow them to bring their bags from Azerbaijan.

“They search our bags and in most cases they take the bags from us; we do not know where they take our bags for examination but we are allowed to take our bags only several days later. Meanwhile, the food we bring from Saingilo spoils and we have to throw everything away. We wanted to meet the head of the Lagodekhi Custom House but we could not meet him; they either say that he is not in the office or he does not receive citizens about similar problems. The custom officers say that they act in accordance to the directives of the financial police,” said the students.

Head of the Lagodekhi Custom House Dito Sakhvadze stated that if the students bring more than allowed luggage they have to pay for it. “It is not my problem if they do not pay the fee. They will not be able to take their bags either,” said Sakhvadze.
