Buildings Equal to Three-Star Hotels Are Being Constructed in Three Detention Settings

Buildings equal to three-star hotels are being constructed in three detention settings of Georgia.

The minister of penitentiary, probation and legal aid of Georgia Khatuna Kalmakhelidze stated at the briefing today that for long rendezvous in prisons the buildings equal to three-star hotels will be initially built in the prison # 11 for juveniles, in Rustavi prison # 6 and prison # 16.

The minister said they aim to improve living conditions, and quality and availability to medical service in the detention settings. However, in parallel to it, in order to support prisoners to meet their family members, everything was done to create corresponding infrastructure in the custodies.

According to the current information, the construction will finish in 3-4 months. The private sector and the ministry will cover the construction expenses together.
