“Georgian Party” Connects Criminal Attack on Amiran Iobashvili’s Family with Politics

The lives of family members of Amiran Iobashvili – who are also member of the Georgian Party – are out of danger now. Amiran Iobashvili reported to the Interpresnews that his son – Koka Iobashvili was wounded in the leg.  Ani Kiknadze was also wounded in leg. Currently they are being operated operate at a central hospital in Tbilisi.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 pm on November 4 in Pekini Ave. # 17near a currently exchange booth of where Amiran Iobashvili’s son and sister-in-law Ani Kiknadze both worked. According to Amiran Iobashvili, the shooting incident took place when his son and daughter-in-law were leaving the booth.

Iobashvili links the incident to his political activity. He said that two years ago when he was a member of Irakli Okruashvili’s party Movement for Georgia, 8 people attacked him and he was physically assaulted.

The booth where his son and daughter-in-law worked was robbed two weeks ago. Amiran Iobashvili links this fact to the same accident. “There are many booths in Pekini St., and why them pick out exactly they this one to robe?!” – states Amiran Iobashvili.

The fact of wounding of Koba Iobashvili and his wife was considered to be a form of political revenge by the leaders of Georgian Party. As one of the leaders of the political party Sozar Subar stated the victims are the members of Amiran Iobashvili’s family and the occurred incident is not connected to the robbery of the booth. According to Subar, government is trying to take a revenge on its opponents.

Georgian Party also noted that the facts of oppression against Iobashvili have occurred in the past as well. Particularly, earlier the booth of Iobashvili was raided and two months ago he was physically assaulted and beaten.

According to Sozar Subari, if the government continues oppression of its political opponents with these kinds of methods, it will soon be collapse. Two days ago Subar made a statement of physical assault of operator and a scriptwriter of Studio Maestro and noted that government’s action is outrageous.
