Fifteen People Poisoned by Chlorine in GeoStyle

November 12, 2010
Fifteen people were poisoned as a result of the percolation of chlorine in the enterprise GeoStyle located in Rustavi. The victims were taken to the department for toxic diseases in the so-called Mikhailov Hospital in Tbilisi.

The head of the department at the hospital Soso Kutubidze reported to the Interpresnews, that the lives of the poisoned people are out of danger now. They have respiratory systems damaged.

In parallel to it, Rustavi City Mayor Mamuka Chikovani said the city hall will cover the expenses of the medical treatment of those patients.

The victims cannot clarify what caused the percolation of the chlorine in the enterprise. Supposedly, they will be dismissed from the hospital tomorrow. The GeoStyle is an Indian enterprise.

Humanrights.ge has published several articles about unbearable conditions in the factory, professional traumas and social problems of the workers. Apparently, the lives of 15 people were under risk not only for the percolation of the chlorine but because of the impunity syndrome of the corresponding officials.
