Shop Owner Committed Suicide Because of Tax Inspection

In the evening of November 14 an owner of the Telavi based wholesale shop “Delfin” Paata Papalashvili hang himself in the shop. The employees of the shop reported to the Kakheti News Center that the Revenue Department imposed fine of 320 000 GEL on Paata Papalashvili that made him to commit suicide.

“They imposed fine of 320 000 GEL on him while the shop has remnant of 70 000 GEL. How could he pay the fine? Two days before the accident, he told his brother-in-law – I should kill myself because I cannot pay the debt,” said the employee of the shop Roma Sulkhanishvili.

“After 6:00pm he came to the shop; locked the door from inside and hung himself. Before that, he called his relative and asked to come to the shop saying he felt bad. When the relative came, Paata was already dead. Maybe, he had called the relative in order to make him come and find his body in the shop on time,” said an employee of the shop Eter Jeiranashvili.

The Kakheti News Center tried to get in touch with the co-owner of the shop Gia Baluashvili but his phone is off. The employees said Baluashvili is disparate because Paata Paplishvili’s suicide.

The Kakheti regional office of the Revenue Department does not comment on the accident.
