Russian Media Alleges Petre Devrishadze Is Spy of the Georgian Special Forces

November 15, 2010
According to the Russian Media, Petre Devrishadze –detainee for espionage for Russia - in fact is a spy of the Georgian Special forces. The “Moskovski Komsomolets” reports about it.

The former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ajara autonomous republic Davit Bakuridze reported to the newspaper about recruiting of Devrishavidxe by the Georgian Special Forces. According to the former member of Aslan Abashidze’s authority, he worked on recruiting Devrishadze in 1999

“He gave me a receipt; I registered his documents as our secret agent and I was monitoring his activities from 1999 till 2004 until I was compelled to leave Georgia. All that time, Devrishadze was spy of the Security Ministry and provided us with information. He informed us about those people who currently govern the country. According to our directives, he got in touch with Saakadhvili’s political party when the latter was in the opposition and informed us about the activities of the party. Devrishadze continued his activities in 2004.when Sakashvili supporters planned to overthrow Aslan Abashidze. I personally paid money to him for his activities. Devrishadze earned much money,” Bakuradze said.

The former high-ranking official of Ajara is sure that Devrishadze is still working for Georgian Special Forces and his current supervisors work at the Constitutional Security Department instead Security Ministry.

“When I lived in Moscow, he called me to learn where the weapon was hidden in Ajara. He offered me his assistance to sell the weapon. They are afraid that we managed to hide something before fleeing from Georgia, and if something happens, those weapons might be used. But I already knew that Devrishadze worked for the current authority.  He told me that my house was searched seven times in Adjara,” Davit Bakuradze said.

In the middle of October, 2010 the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained 13 persons for espionage in favor of Russia as a result of four-year-long operation. Among them is a businessman from Adjara autonomous republic and citizen of Russia Petre Devrishicze.
