Public Defender Requests Investigation of the Oppression Fact on Telavi TV-Company Director

The public defender of Georgia Giorgi Tughushi requests to investigate the fact of oppression on the director of the Telavi based independent TV-Company “Tanamgzavri”. He has already sent recommendation to the chief prosecutor of Georgia Murtaz Zodelava.

“On November 16, 2010 the director of the TV-Company “Tanamgzavri” Enry Kobakhidze petitioned to the Public Defender of Georgia. The petition states that in October of 2010 Enry Kobakhidze was in the monastery complex in Akhmeta district together with his colleagues. At about 9:00 pm, Gela Chvritidze arrived at the place together with several other people by police car. Chvritidze insulted Enry Kobakhidze and threatened him with physical assault. The employees of the TV-Company and several other people witnessed the incident.”

On November 14, 2010, Enry Kobakhidze together with his wife and brother was at the wedding party in the village of Laliskuri in Telavi district. Gela Chvritidze was in the same wedding party. Later, Kobakhidze took his wife home and returned back an hour later. Arriving back, he saw Gela Chvritidze was shouting at his brother. Afterwards, Chvritdze physically assaulted Kobakhidze,” the statement of the public defender’s office.

According to him, Enry Kobakhidze and the employee of the TV-Company “Tanamgzavri” Zurab Makhatadze gave explanation letters to the representatives of the public defender.
