Government Raided Pharmacies

The information about the detention of directors of several f pharmacies in Tbilisi was officially confirmed. They were detained by the Investigation Department of the Financial Ministry.

Bail from 20 000 to 40 000 GEL was imposed on most of 40 detainees. Tamar Abesadze - the attorney of one of the detainees, who is the owner of the pharmacy “Chokheli” in Mukhiani settlement, Tbilisi, informed “Interpresnews” about it.

Abesadze clarified that the judge of the Tbilisi City Court Badri Kochlamazishvili discussed the motion of the Investigation Department of the Financial Ministry yesterday.

The Investigation Department requested bail of 20 000 GEL from the accused who owns only one pharmacy while from the accused, who owns two or three pharmacies, will have to pay a bail of 30 000 GE; the owners of more than three pharmacies have to pay 40 000 GEL as a bail; the judge satisfied the motion.

As Abesadze clarified, the investigation department requested imprisonment of only four persons - they are members of one family - mother, father son and daughter-in-law. The judge satisfied this request of the Investigation Department too.

According to Abesadze, her client Leila Chokheli is accused in illegal activities which envisage imprisonment of 3 years.
 
The law enforcement officers withdrew psychotropic medicine “Senazepam”, from Chokheli`s pharmacy. The medicine is produced in Russia that means it was imported to Georgia through breaching the custom regulations.

Before that, on November 9, the Investigation Department detained owner of a pharmacy “Nino+D” Nino Danelia and her brother-in-law Temur Benikov, who were accused in transporting and selling medicines without invoice

Nino Danelia`s attorney Ramaz Kvirkvia reported to the “Interpresnews” that Nino Danelila and Temur Beniakov  are charged under Article 200-3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The article envisages transporting and selling of psychotropic medicine, “Coaksil” in this particular case, without invoice. The corresponding Article envisages five years imprisonment. According to the attorney, Nino Danelia’s brother-in-law Temur Beniakov was transporting “Coaksil” worth of 36 000 GEL to the pharmacy in Zestaponi. 

The Tbilisi City Court sentenced both detainees to two-month pretrial imprisonment. The Investigation Department confirmed information about the detention of the directors of Tbilisi based pharmacies.
