Convicts Will Be Able to Enjoy Right of Video-Dating

December 6, 2010
Amendment will be introduced to the Law on Imprisonment in order to promote re-socialization of the prisoners. According to the bill, convicts will be able to contact the society with the support of video dating.

According to the clarification of the initiators, the corresponding amendment will promote the integration of the convicted into the society; will support them not to be completely isolated from the society during the imprisonment and to feel themselves plenipotentiary members of the society. The people, convicted for the particularly grave crimes, shall not have right to enjoy the right on video-dating.

According to the MP Dimitri Lortkipanidze, the list of people, who will not have right to enjoy the abovementioned innovation, should be corrected and more accurate in order not the breach the principle of fair justice. The committee and the authors of the bill accepted Dimitri Lortkipanidze’s suggestion and agreed to discuss the issue at the next session

The bill was initated by MPs Lasha Tordia and Andro Alavidze.
