Erisimedi Village Disputable Territory of Georgia and Azerbaijan

The village of Erisimedi in Sighnaghi district is the disputable territory between Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The deputy foreign minister of Georgia Nino Kalandadze stated about it at the traditional briefing today.

She said the village is located on the territory which has been disputable area between the two states in the frame of delimitation. The negotiations about this territory are still underway.

“The working groups of the both countries are involved in the delimitation process. They will clear up the fate of this territory,” said Nino Kalandadze.

According to her, the final decisions have not been made and the working groups still meet for the negotiations.

Kalandadze added that any restriction for the citizens of Georgia in this territory is caused by its unclear status.

“It should be clarified whether the citizens of Georgia will have problems in transportation because it is beyond our competence,” said the deputy minister.
