Koba Burkiashvili: “Ministry of Economic Development Seized Property from the Citizen of Ireland”

December 9, 2010
Kakheti regional governor Giorgi Ghviniashvili does not have information about seizure of the property from the citizen of Ireland in Sighnaghi. He told the Kakheti News Center that nobody has informed him about the fact. “I do not know what you are asking about; so I cannot answer your question,” said the governor.

Head of the Kakheti regional office of the State Property Management and Privatization Department Koba Burkiashvili said that the Ministry of Economic Development of Georgia seized property from the citizen of Ireland Ciara Rosemarie O'Sullivan in Kostava Street, Sighnaghi.

“The property was really deprived from the citizen of Ireland. We received the order from the Ministry of Economic Development. Now, I do not remember what exactly was written in the letter. I cannot give you exact answer but I know for sure that the Ministry deprived the property,” said Burkiashvili.

According to the Human Rights Center, a building in Kostava Street in Sighnaghi was seized from the citizen of Ireland Ciara Rosemarie O'Sullivan. According to the human rights organization, she had purchased the property in accordance to the law. However, the Ministry annulled the purchase agreement short time ago without notifying the owner about it.

Ciara Rosemarie O’Sullivan has appealed court against the decision of the ministry to seize her property. The Human Rights Center intends to request assistance of the international organizations in the process.
