Turkey Refused Georgia to Extradite Guram Gogua

December 9, 2010
Turkish court refused the prosecutor’s office of Georgia to extradite Guram Gogua - a head of the Art Group and business-partner of Kibar Khalvashi.

The attorney of Gogua Soso Baratashvili confirmed the information with the Interpresnews and added that Turkish court decided to release Gogua from imprisonment.

Baratashvili clarified that Turkish lawyers also protected Gogua at the court together with Georgian attorneys. The defense side provided the court with valid evidence why Gagua was not to be extradited to Georgia.

The provided documents demonstrated that Gogua was persecuted on political grounds; they also proved judiciary and human rights violations in regard with Gogua’s prosecution. The Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia will comment on the fact later.
