Foreign Media Interested in the Kakheti Region Villages

The foreign media sources got interested in the villages of Kakheti region which were left without electricity supply. The editor of the Kakheti News Center Gela Mtivlishvili said the film-team intend to visit Kakheti region and to prepare reportage in January, 2011.

Mtivlishvili added that the foreign media sources got interested in the villages of the Kakheti region after the Kakheti News Center published information about the problem. The foreign journalists got interested in the problems of the local people originated by the activities of the local authority and Kakheti Electricity Distribution Company; the officials said they are not going to spend funds on the electricity supply of the villages where only few people live.

The village of Chartala in Akhmeta district has not been supplied with electricity for 20 years and the village of Cheremi in Gurjaani district has lived without electricity for 16 years.

The Kakheti News Center prepares reportages about the problems in the villages of Kakheti reigon with the support of the Foundation “Open Society – Georgia.”
