Quarter of the Ministry Budget Equal to the Minister’s Two-Year-Expenses

On the position of the State Minister for Reintegration of Georgia, Temur Iakobashvili spent as much money as it was allocated from the state budget to the ministry in the first quarter of this year. Iakobashvili occupied the position for two years.

329, 516 GEL is the total sum spent on Iakobashvilils`s salaries, business leaves, communication and car service. The budget of the first quarter in 2010 was 374 300 GEL

At the end of his activities as a Minister, average 15 691 GEL was spent on him per month.

On December 16 a new website opendata.ge was presented. It provides public information about salary, bonus and other expenses of the officials of the Georgian ministries. The Ministries provide the website with the abovementioned information.

The Institute for Development of Freedom of Information, which created the website, nominated Georgian Ministry for Reintegration as the most transparent ministry in Georgia. The ministry had answered all 14 questions promptly and completely in the questionnaire. 

According to the provided information, the Minister received 70 500 GEL as a salary and bonus in 2010; in 2009 his salary amounted to 42 480 GEL and the bonus - 46 020 GEL.

Minister’s monthly salary was 3 540 GEL. He received the bonuses equal to his salary every month. From January to September 2010 Iakobashvili’s business-leaves cost 78 729 GEL. In 2010 he spent 41 355 GEL on communication while he was state minister. 31 000 GEL was spent on Iakobashvili`s communication in 20009.

The expenses for the technical service of Iakobashvili’s car-Mitsubishi Pajero was 10 332 GEL in 2010 and 9 100 GEL in 2009.
2010 budget of the ministry for reintegration was 1 379 400 GEL. In addition, the funds were allocated from the reserve fund of the government.

The total sum allocated for the ministry from the reserve fund is 348 000 GEL throughout two years.

Nowadays, Temur Iakobashvili is an ambassador of Georgia to the USA. From January 2008 till November 2010 he was Minister for Reintegration of Georgia. Before 2008 he was executive vice-president of the Georgian Foundation for Strategy and International Studies.
