Badri Bitsadze – Informer of the Asaval-Dasavali Newspaper

December 20, 2010
The newspaper “Asaval-Dasavali” named the informer of the scandalous materials which they published a week ago. The article – “Informer of the Asaval-Dasavali Appeared from Behind the Scene” and he turned up Badri Bitsadze - the husband of the former chairperson of the Georgian Parliament Nino Burjanadze and former head of the frontier police department.

“Saakashvili told me – Grechikha (Gia Gachechiladze) is coming here now; go into that room and listen what he will tell me. It happened in Shavnabada military base after the presidential elections,” said Bitsadze in his interview with the newspaper.

Bitsadze said: “Grechikha tried to convince Saakashvili that he could overthrow his government. Saakashvili asked him: “What do you want me to do for you?” Grechikha did not say anything loudly; I saw he was writing his conditions on the paper. When Grechikha left the base, Saakashvili gave me the paper and told me to read it,” said Bitsadze.

Badri Bitsadze recalled the Inauguration Day of the President Mikheil Saakashvili. “On the Inauguration Day, Grechikha was in the hippodrome. A lot of people gathered in the hippodrome and Grechikha called Saakashvili and asked him to finish the inauguration soon because he could not stop people in the hippodrome for a long time. Finally, Grechikha called Burjanadze and asked why the inauguration process lasted so long; he said he was keeping his promise but if the people start off, he could not stop them. Nino [Burjanadze] told him they had not agreed about any conditions so he had to clear up the situation with the person whom he made a deal with.”

On December 13, newspaper Asaval-Dasavali published an article whose author claimed that he held a paper where Levan Gachechiladze wrote his requests to Mikheil Saakashvili during their meeting after the presidential elections in 2008. More precisely, he requested –“position of the prime-minister for 6 months,” “five million GEL”, “starting capital for the establishment of Ilia Chavchavadze’s Real Estate Bank – that was10-12 million GEL.” Besides that, Levan Gachechiladze requested the president to appoint Tina Khidasheli (a leader of the Republic Party) on the position of the Prosecutor General of Georgia. But Saakashvili said Khidasheli was Giga Bokeria (Secretary of National Security Council of Georgia) in dress; that meant she was not a perfect person at all…

“Asaval-Dasavali” reports that Saakashvili transferred 2 million GEL to Gachechiladze as an advance payment and refused to satisfy other requests. So, the author said Gachechiladze continued his struggle against the president because the latter did not satisfy his requests. According to the newspaper, Mikheil Saakashvili bargained with Grechikha for peaceful inauguration ceremony.
