Svaneti Residents Installed Posts of Ropeway Upside-down

With the “support” of Svani (residents of Svaneti region) contractors of the Italian company the first skiing season might not be opened before the New Year.

The opening ceremony was initially scheduled for December 22 but it was later postponed for December 24. However, the Italian Company “Linter”, which carried out installation activities, doubts the season will start till the New Year.

The company representatives allege that Svani contractors, who installed the posts of the ropeway upside-down, created problems for them and as a result the weight center of the ropeway remained in the air.

Representatives of the Italian Company said “we have never seen similar thing anywhere else in the world.”

Nevertheless, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regional governor Zaza Gorozia denied the information about the mistakes made by Svani constructors and claims that “every problem, related with the construction of the ropeway, has been already eradicated.”

Moreover, the regional governor said that “the ropeway has already started working and the first fall has already done on the ropeway.”
