Vazisubani Residents Request Kakheti Electricity Distribution Company to Ensure Security Norms

January 13, 2011
Residents of Vazisubani village in Gurjaani district blame the JSC “Kakheti Electricity Distribution Company” in the violation of security norms. They said the high-voltage electricity wires are stretched several meters away from residential houses that often results in fires and threatens their health and lives.

“The neighboring village of Vachnadzeani is supplied with electricity through those wires. The posts, located in our yards, are out of order; several of them are bent so that the wires are now stretched about 5 meters high from the ground. The post is so bent in my yard that a gust of wind can blow it down to the ground and it can kill somebody,” said a resident of Vazisubani village Avtandil Solomnishvili in his interview with the Kakheti News Center.

“The wires are so low in my yard that we chopped fruit-trees to prevent fire in the yard. We cannot allow children to play in the yard; they might hit something to the wire which can end in a tragedy,” said Vakhtang Dzuliashvili from Vazisubani village.

Local resident Aleksandre Solomnishvili said high-voltage wires are stretched above his balcony too.

Ilia Amonashvili , the manager of the Gurjaani service center of the Kakheti Electricity Distribution Company reported to the Kakheti News Center that there are some damaged wires stretched in the district though they do not threaten the local population. “According to the standards, the wires shall be stretched at the height of 7 meters from the ground. I do not know what is going in Vazisubani village; I will see it. If it is necessary we will change the posts. Only the central office can replace the wires,” said Amonashvili.
