IDPs Protesting in front of Parliament

January 24, 2011

On January 24th next protest rally was held in front of Parliament with the request of provision of residence places for the evicted IDPs.

As the representatives of Civil Movement of IDPs stated at today’s protest rally, they are working on the special statement with the request of asylum which will be submitted to the embassies of different European countries and United State.

As one of the organizers of the protest rally, Conservative Party member Lasha Chkhartishvili stated there is a complaint underway concerning the eviction of IDPs which will be submitted to Tbilisi City Court in the nearest future.

According to him, if Georgian Court does not react relevantly, the case will transfer to Strasbourg Human Rights Court.

As for the future plans on the continuation of protest actions, according to IDPs, they will daily protest against the eviction of IDPs.

The protest rally ended soon.
