IDPs Held Protest Rally in front of the Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees

26.01.2011
IDPs held next protest rally in front of the Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia.

The IDPs requested the ministry to stop eviction process and satisfy already evicted IDPs with accommodations. Besides that, they evaluated the president’s statement which he made during the TV-interview yesterday.

Organizers of the rally – leader of the Conservative Party Lasha Chkhartishvili and leader of the People’s Party Aleksandre Shalamberidze said that Mikheil Saakashvili lied when he said he was concerned about the accommodation and employment of IDPs. In fact, IDPs are persecuted every day and they are doomed to homeless life and starvation.

As for their future plans, the IDPs and organizers from the Conservative and People’s Parties, said that protest demonstrations will not stop and they will continue their struggle for the protection of IDP rights through legal forms.

Next rally will be held at 2:00 pm on January 28 in front of the parliament of Georgia.
