Six Refugee Families Evicted

February 18, 2011
On February 16 six refugee Families were evicted from the former military building in Gogoli Street #1 in Batumi. The families had voluntarily occupied the space. The law enforcement officers gave them two hours to empty the place.

The family members requested the government to take their properties to Tskhinvali administrative border.

“We cannot shelter any place at the moment. The only thing we can do is to return back to Tskhinvali. I beg the government to take my properties to Tskhinvali border. I do not want anything else. I need neither the 100 square meters of land nor that flat which they promised to give to us in two years”, an IDP told the Human Rights Center.

The Joint Stock Company “Eurasia Georgia” purchased the above-mentioned building in Gogoli Street #1 on the auction.
