Youth Organizations Request Assistance of Ambassadors in Release of Political Prisoners

On February 21, activists of youth NGOs held protest demonstration in front of the US Embassy in Tbilisi and gave a press-conference there. They requested the US Ambassador John Bass to assist them in the release of political prisoners in Georgia.

Head of public movement “No” Levan Chitadze said they requested the US Ambassador John Bass any assistance in the release of political prisoners.

Chitadze said John Bass could express his position about the fact or recommend to the government to stop persecution of people on political grounds.

Levan Chitadze added that 52 people are arrested on political grounds in Georgia and several international organizations, like Human Rights Watch, admitted it.

The demonstration lasted till the day in front of the US Embassy.

On February 23, similar demonstration will be held in front of the EU office.
