The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) issues an official statement regarding the explosives discovered near the office of Imedi TV.

The statement is followed by video material showing Gogita Arkania’s testimony. The video shows how Arkania takes the investigators to the precise place where he located the explosives.

The explosives were discovered on the indicated spot. The MIA Special Operative Center officials defused them.

According to Gogita Arkania’s testimony yesterday, bomb experts found two sets of explosives. The explosives contained dexogen and were placed in jars. Gogita Arkania is  suspected of carrying out acts of terrorism in Tbilisi.

One of the explosives was discovered in Imedi TV’s parking lot, the other – 10-15 meters away from Imedi’s central building.

About ten people have been arrested as a result of the MIA special operation. They are accused of committing acts of terrorism organized by Russian special services in different regions of Georgia during 2009-2010.

The detainees are also accused in the explosions that occurred at the US Embassy in Tbilisi, as well as explosions that occurred on the streets of Mukhiani and Javakhishvili and the attempted bombing of the railway bridge in the village of Chaladidi in the Khobi region.
