Five Years Added to Tsotne Gamsakhurdia’s Imprisonment

March 1, 2011
Five years were added to Tsotne Gamsakhurdia’s imprisonment term. Judge Zviad Esebua at the Tbilisi City Court convicted Gamsakhurdia in bribery and imposed 5-year-imprisonment on him.

This term was added to the previous– nine years and 6 months imprisonment; Tsotne Gamsakhurdia has already served one year and four years of it.

His lawyer Keti Bekauri told Interpresnews that the judgment is ungrounded and they intend to appeal it at the Appeal Court.

According to the lawyer, the punishment of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia has not finished with it. The court is due to discuss one more accusation about his espionage. The court discussion terms on this accusation were already breached and the lawyer intends to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights for breached right to fair trial.
