Viktor Dolidze – Mortality Rate of Children under 5 is the Highest in Georgia among European Countries

Among 47 European countries, Georgia has the highest mortality rate for children under 5. Chair of Health and Social Issues Commission of the City Council Victor Dolidze stated this at the briefing held in Tbilisi City Council.

Victor Dolidze, a member of the fraction Our Tbilisi presented the data of 2010 of the World Health Organization. He emphasized that according to this data, the health situation in Georgia is alarming.

According to Victor Dolidze, Georgia is on the 192nd place among the 194 states by population growth. State spends $35 on one person, while in France they spend $3655, in the U.S. – 3317, in Germany - $3236, in Estonia - $630, in Lithuania - $530, $243 - in Russia.

Representative of Free Democrats in the City Assembly Viktor Dolidze noted that there is high rate of child mortality in Georgia, as it is on the 66th place in the world and on the 44th place in the 47 states of Europe and Georgia is the 47th in death rate for children under the age of 5 in the 47 states of Europe.

“The final inference of World Health Organization notes that Georgian government often speculates that Georgia is on the 3rd place among 129 countries in the world by the ease of doing business. It is not hard to start business but it is harder to pursue it. Government hides this data from its people,” – added Victor Dolidze.

Oppositionist member of the city council considers that in terms of the current government, we must not expect changes to improve the situation.
