The “Human Rights Center” Blames Lagodekhi District Governor in the Oppression on Villages Governors

March 7, 2011

The “Human Rights Center” blames the Lagodekhi district governor Dimitry Loladze in the oppression on the commissaries of territorial entities. According to the” Human Rights Center,” the governor forbade them to cooperate with the representatives of the Human Rights Center.

“We used to call the commissaries of the territorial entities and ask whether there were socially disabled families in their village whose children cannot go to school. Last week, the village commissaries answered our questions without problem, but today they told us the district governor had warned them against cooperating with us. It is not first fact when the governor forbids local officials and public servants to communicate with journalists and NGO representatives. Kakheti region based journalists have petitioned to the Human Rights Center several times and complained that village governors requested them permission from the district governors or their spokespersons before giving interviews to media sources,” the representatives of the Kakheti office of the human rights organization said.

Lagodekhi district governor Dimitry Loladze denied the information and said.”I told the village commissaries to ask the NGO representatives to re quest the information directly from us. I did not forbid anyone to communicate with the NGOs”, the governor said.
