Families Living in Landslide Risk Zone Accuse Sighnaghi Governor in Indifference

In Sighnaghi, at Erekle II St. the families living in landslide risk zone accuse Sighnaghi municipality Governor Nodar Kochlamazashvili in indifference. As the victims state, they do not have another shelter and the damaged houses where they live now can break down any time.

In Sighnaghi, at Erekle II St where 72 families live, all houses are damaged. “We addressed the municipality numerous times, but they do not pay us any attention. The Governor refuses to receive us. He says that we irritate him. We are afraid to go in the houses. It shakes when it is raining,” – notes the residents of Erekle II St.

According to the Governor Nodar Kochlamazashvili of Sighnaghi municipality, the city municipality provided information to Kakheti Governor Administration regarding the state of landslide risk zone. “We do not have money in the budget. The only thing that we can do is paying rent money to four or five families,” – stated Governor.

Sighnaghi municipality 2011 year budget amounts to 3 614 000 GEL. Approximately 25% of it is administrative expense and is spent on the local government.
