Prosecutor’s Office Detained Former Chairman of the Gori District Court Lawyer Bondo Vatiashvili

March 28, 2011
As a result of the joint operations of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and the Special Operative Department of the MIA, the former chairman of the Gori district court - lawyer Bondo Vatiashvili was arrested for forgery.

Interpresnews was reported from the Prosecutor’s Office that Bondo Vatiashvili tried to convince his relative Lamara Aslamazishvili, detainee for issuing false university diplomas, that she could sign a plea-agreement with the prosecutor’s office only if she paid 10 000 GEL to the prosecutor as a bribe.

Since Lamara Aslamazishvili could not check the information, she trusted Vatiashvili and gave the requested sum with the support of the mediator; the lawyer misappropriated the sum.

Bondo Vatiashvili is accused of forgery that is envisaged under Article 180 Part II-“b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime is punishable by imprisonment ranging up to 7 years in length.
