March 30, 2011

On March 25th, the fire erupted in the two-storied house in the village Salibauri of Khelvachauri Municipality. There were four children at home. The mother of family was baking bread at the neighbors. Energo Pro Georgia had turned off electricity as the family owed them debt. The mother had to go to neighbors to bake the bread. Four children were left at home.

“I was at my neighbors and my children were at home. My older daughter managed to take out one child, but could not manage to take out another,” – states the father of children.

The victim of the fire is 8-year-old girl. The cause of the fire is named to be the ignition coming from the candle or furnace. The catastrophe occurred at 23:10. The first floor of the house was made of wood and that contributed to the fire. According to the neighbors, they could have avoided the tragedy if the fire brigade came on time and the electricity was on.

19-year-old and 10-year-old girls received some body injuries. They were taken to the medical department by the 03 brigade. One of them is in the resuscitation medical department of Batumi Children Hospital with scorches of breathing organs. The older is located in Batumi hospital with the 2nd degree burnings.
