New Damages in Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi Road

April 6, 2011
As a result of heavy rain the soil slid in several places in Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi motor-way in the zone of landslide. The residents of Gombori village reported the Kakheti News Center that the damaged area of the road is sliding every day and the asphalt is moving towards the ravine.

“This part of the road is in the zone of the landslide. The rehabilitation activities will start as soon as the rain stops,” said the officials of the Telavi Road Service Office.

President of Georgia opened the rehabilitated road of Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi on October 2, 2010. 37 million USD was spent on the rehabilitation of the motorway; 30 million USD is the loan from the World Bank. The minister of regional development and infrastructure of Georgia Ramaz Nikolaishvili promised the president that the road will not have problems for the next 10 years. “In the past, the roads were badly repaired in order to need rehabilitation soon and earn money from it,” said the president. The first problems in Gombori road started 2 months after it was opened.
