April 8, 2011

The Anti-Corruptive Department of the Main Office of Prosecutor detained the citizen of Republic of Turkey, the director of Doruk Nut and Food Company Iaman Chagatai.

The head of the Anti-Corruption Department of the Main Office of Prosecutor Zaza Kachibia and the prosecutor of this department Giorgi Kondakhashvili held a press conference regarding this issue.

According to them, the investigation found that Iaman Chagatai received 1 million and 955 thousand GEL loan from the state budget for the purpose of building the citrus factory in the village Khutsubani of Kobuleti Region where approximately 300 Georgian citizens would have been employed.

Iaman Chaghatai is charged with the legalization of illegal income, illegal use of state-target oriented credit and falsification of customs documentation.

These offences are envisaged by the second parts of Article 214 and Article 208 of the Criminal Code and the paragraph C of part II of article 194.

If the charge is asserted, the Turkish businessman will face 12-year imprisonment sentence.
