People Planning Terrorist Acts Can Enjoy Some Advantages If They Inform the Government About Planned Terrorist Acts in Advance

April 13, 2011

People, participating in the planning of terrorist act, who will inform the governmental agencies on time about their plans or otherwise support prevention of the terrorist act, will enjoy some advantages.

In accordance to the draft-amendments to the Criminal Code of Georgia, the note to the article about terrorist acts is abolished which discharges any participant of the terrorist act from criminal responsibility if she/he informs the governmental agencies about the planned terrorist act on time or otherwise supports prevention of the incident and if his/her activities do not contain other signs of crime.

Nevertheless, an author of the draft-law Giorgi Chiviashvili said the Criminal Code of Georgia already discharges a person from criminal liability if he/she timely informs the corresponding institutions about the scheduled crime.

The financial committee of the Parliament of Georgia has already discussed and voted for the draft-amendments to the Criminal Code of Georgia.
