Protest Rally Broken Up in Tskhinvali

April 18, 2011

The protest rally was broken up in Tkhinvali, the news agency Caucasian knot informs.

Some sufferers of Russian-Georgian war were requesting money in return for the un-built houses.

According to one of the participants, Liana Tedeev, the protestors were circled by the policemen. Then the military personnel came at the spot.

“We were attacked by the young people who had made threats to Inara Gabaraeva. They swore on us. I had never heard such words before. Human rights defender Besarion Oseev was beaten up. They were going to beat me as well, but the women protected me,” – stated Tedeeva.

The protest rally started last Saturday at 11:00 pm; it was planned that the rallies would go on for 10 days. Only 20 people participated in it, mostly women.

Information about threats made to Inara Gabaraeva by the officials of the Defense Ministry was spread last week. Three men threatened Gabaraeva and demanded that she would stop working. The slow phase of the recovery works were cause of the protest rally. Moscow allocated 10 billion ruble for the construction works for Tskhinvali regime in 2008-2009 and 6 billion and 810 million ruble this year.
