Ramaz Nikolaishvili: “All Problems will be Solved On Gombori Road”

May 4, 2011

The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastracture Ramaz Nikolaishvili made a comment regarding the damages on Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road.

According to the Minister, the landslide zones on the road are under examination. As a result of the examination, the relevant works are going to be conducted and the problem of landslide will be finally solved.

“In the beginning we had several options for rehabilitating Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road. There was an option to implement a project worth 500 million, but we chose less expensive project as there is no massive traffic at this road. When I said that this road was not going to have problems for 10 years, I meant the parts of the roads where there is no landslide. I said back then that there are 12 landslide zones at this road and that it is under examination. We could not conduct this examination before building road considering that there was no traffic at this time therefore no damages could be revealed. However, now, as a result of new examination which is going to be completed for May 25th we will find out what works are there to be conducted and in the summer all problems are going to be solved once and for all,” – stated Ramaz Nikolaishvili.
The traffic is dangerous at Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road. The landslide destroyed the several parts of the road. There are spots where the warning signs are not set. Several parts are so damaged that it can break down and damage people’s lives.
