Georgian media has covered the details of the detainment of members of Public Assembly and organization Ara relatively comprehensively. The action the participants of which were detained was held against the head of the Rustavi Police First Department Valeri Dughashvili.

The participants of action blamed Dughashvili in arresting oppositioners and planting weapons.

On May 7th 12 participants of the action were arrested. One of them imposed with the 30-day administrative arrest was the head of Shepitsuli Group of Public Assembly Gocha Tedoradze. The members of the assembly from Rustavi talk about the details of the arrest which were not covered by the media.

“Gocha Tedoradze stated to the judge that he was threatened by the head of the First Department of Rustavi Police Valeri Dughashvili. He indicated in the court protocol that on May 7th, after the detainment he was transferred to Rustavi Police Department where Dughashvili verbally assaulted him and then threatened that he would kill his family members. Then Dughashvili spit him in the face. Gocha addressed us and asked us to pay attention to his family. Unfortunately, the judge did not pay attention to this information,” – states the executive secretary of Rustavi Committee of Public Assembly Tornike Arevadze.

According to him, the conflict between Tedoradze and Dughasvhili started a lot earlier than May 7th: “In 2009, when the series of arrests started after the April protest rallies, Dughashvili personally planted weapons on Tedoradze. He supervised his arrest too. Tedoradze was taken out of the yard of his house and his wife, mother and brother were physically assaulted. Numerous complaints have been submitted against Valeri Dughashvili but the Office of Prosecutor fails to investigate these cases.”

Dughashvili does not respond to the accusations.
While calling the head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Tamar Dodashvili, we were told that it is a wrong number. But we have contacted Mrs. Tamar numerous times on this number.
