Davit Patsatsia Recalls Marjanishvili Theatre Incident Related to the President

May 30, 2011

Davit Pastatsia, one of the founders of the organization Ratom (why) recalls the incident of May 27th occurred in the Marjanishvili Theatre. He tells the details in an interview with the newspaper Kviris Palitra.

“I decided not to sit in the same hall where the President would be. When I came out of the Marjanishvili Theatre, everything was blocked. The snipers were sitting on the roofs. I was standing at the entrance when the President’s escort stopped. The President came from the TBC bank direction with a happy face. When I faced him, I said straightforwardly “you are a murderer, bastard and savage and you will be held responsible for what you did on May 26th.” You should have seen his face. His smiley and satisfied face changed suddenly. Then the guards pulled me in the car,” – recalls Davit Patsatsia.

Patsatsia states that he was treated properly in the police department and has not been insulted.

“The policeman who composed the protocol of my detainment, libeled me and stated that I was violating the public order and that is why I was detained,” – states Patsatsia.

According to him, he requested to show the video footages of the TBC bank and Super Market Ioli to confirm the false testimony of the policeman. The judge did not render his request.

“In this case, they would have to raise the responsibility of the policeman. So the judge found me guilty in hooliganism and disobedience to the police. However, the judge considered sufficient to issue just verbal warning,” – stated Patsatsia.

The neighbor of Davit Patsatsia Vakhtang Maisuradze who was with him during the incident was imposed with 90-day imprisonment. Giorgi Lapiashvili was imposed with 400-GEL fine.
