Murman Dumbadze Still in Pretrial Detention Setting

June 1, 2011

Murman Dumbadze’s lawyer from the Telavi office of the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association Marekh Mgaloblishvili denied the information spread by media sources as if Murman Dumbadze was taken to a hospital from the Telavi PDS because of worsened health conditions.

“Yesterday we petitioned to the prison administration to take Murman Dumbadze to hospital. He shall be properly examined because he was ruthlessly beaten and suffers from acute pains in the abdomen. We think, his limbs were broken. The representatives of the Red Cross also visited him in prison. They also recommended to take Dumbadze to a hospital but he is still in the PDS,” Marekh Mgaloblishvili told the Information Center of Kakheti.

The information about Murman Dumbadze’s placement in the Telavi hospital was recently spread. The doctor of the Telavi hospital Vasiko Gotadze did not confirm the information with the ICK.

The former head of the Adjara office of the Republic Party Murman Dumbadze was detained during the dispersal of the protest demonstration in Tbilisi for disobedience on May 26. The Tbilisi City Court sentenced him to 30-day imprisonment. He was taken to the Telavi PDS. Dumbadze was ruthlessly beaten and has injuries all over the body. He did not receive food during 2 days in the PDS. He has not received proper medical assistance yet.
