How much did 7 Thousand Roses Cost?

June 10, 2011

Lika Keratishvili, newspaper Khvela Siakhle (All news)

There are legends about the love story of famous Georgian painter Niko Pirosmani. The legend tells that he sold his store to buy million red roses for a French dancer Margarita who he fell in love with at first sight. Nobody knows whether or not this is true. Anyways, “million roses of Pirosmani” is a beautiful love story…

The hall decorated by 7 thousand red roses to receive the guests at the premier of Five Days of August reminded me of Pirosmani’s million roses…

It seems like there still are the romantics in our country who brought roses from the country of Ecuador to please the beautiful actress Sharon Stone.

From various internet sources we learned that every red rose cost about 40 dollars. We tried to contact the organizer of Sharon Stone’s visit to Georgia, former general director of joint-stock company Madneuli, currently a Member of Parliament Koba Nakopia. But since he is not in the country we could not find out how much it cost to bring a star in our country and how much was 7 thousand red roses. But by simple mathematical calculation, 7 thousand roses would cost 280 thousand dollars.

Except for the roses, the public beaten and insulted on May 26th saw the grand charity dinner on all news programs of state televisions numerous times…

P.S. According to the unofficial information, the hosting of Hollywood star cost 5 million. The money received as a charity at the dinner held in Rustaveli Theater cost 1.5 million GEL. This money will be sent to the IDPs and the victims of 2008 war.
