Sometimes one doesn’t tell truth because of ‘political correctness’ - Robert Sturua

June 14, 2011

‘Political correctness’ is partly positive, albeit, on the other hand, it is significantly negative. Sometimes one doesn’t tell the truth because of ‘political correctness’, theatre director Robert Sturua said at Rustaveli theatre yesterday.

The fans, theatre specialists, critics, students and actors held an art evening of Robert Sturua yesterday at Rustaveli theatre. Robert Sturua talked about his play and the statements that caused different kinds of reactions in the public. According to him, it is often better to tell the truth than to remain within the framework of ‘political correctness’.

‘If a human being has a disease and we conceal it, it will never be treated. It is not surprising that people hate people of other nations. If we conceal it, we will just be pretending. Imagine that I tell you how much I love black people. I might not love them at all, not because they are black but because they are a little behind my culture,” – stated Robert Sturua.

According to Sturua, he does not wish the President of Georgia to be Armenian. ‘I don’t want my president to be American, nor Italian. A while ago an Armenian friend of mine sent me a letter where he stated: “Robik, this is your opinion. We are on your side.” If you read what Russians write about Ukrainians, you will go crazy. If I was Ukrainian I would have hated Russian nation. Georgians are more loyal,” – stated Robert Sturua.

Earlier, Robert Sturua said in an interview that Mikheil Saakashvili was Armenian and that he did not wish to have an Armenian president. The statement caused different reactions among the public.
