Court Imposed Imprisonment on Badri Bitsadze

The Tbilici City Court satisfied the solicitation of the prosecutor’s office to impose preventive detention on Badri Bitsadze instead initial bail; Bitsadze is a leader of the People’s Assembly and husband of the ex-speaker of the Georgian parliament Nino Burjanadze.

On June 20, the Tbilisi City Court discussed the solicitation of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office on amending the preventive measures against Badri Bitsadze.

According to the Tbilisi City Court, “within the term estimated by the Court, the accused, or any other person lawfully representing the accused, have not transferred the fixed bail sum to the court account; relatively, the Court satisfied the solicitation and changed the preventive bail into preventive detention.”

Badri Bitsadze is accused of organizing the attack on police officers; the imposed bail sum was 100 000 GEL.

Badri Bitsadze will be sought. His whereabouts are not known so far.
