Sozar Subari and Erosi Kitsmarishvili Visit Member of Their Party Released from Prison

June 24, 2011

Leaders of Georgian Party Sozar Subari and Erosi Kitsmarishvili visited the deputy head of the local regional organization of the party in Rustavi Gocha Kakoishvili who had served 30-day administrative sentence and was released two days ago.

The leaders of the party visited Kakoishvili to personally hear the information regarding the state of detention.

According to Kakoishvili, he has been subjected to the degrading and inhuman terms for a month; he was physically and morally abused; was tortured by cold water; sworn and spit on just because he does not support government and is member of Georgian Party.

According to him, the prisoners would use words like “Go ahead and change government” during the beating and abuse. The ill-treatment especially severed after the May 26th.

As Kakoishvili noted this is not the first case of physical abuse by the law-enforcement officials. According to him, during the raid on November 7 of 2007 when he was a member of Irakli Okruashvili’s team, the law-enforcement officials raided his home, planted bullets of automatic rifles and filed a criminal case against him. Then he was released by plea-bargain agreement and was imposed with 3-year conditional sentence. On August 5 of 2009, he was severely beaten by approximately ten people in masks. His life was saved by ordinary citizens who saw him unconscious.

As for the administrative sentence, Kakoishvili was detained on May 21st, 2011 by the Rustavi police officials. As Kakoishvili notes he met an employee of Rustavi police Davit Sartania after the detention. On the question to why he was detained he answered that it necessary.

The leaders of the party strictly evaluated the fact of Kakoishvili’s detention and his torture. According to Sozar Subari, this story is a clear example how the government treats the innocent people, terrorizes and intimidates them. According to him, this means that the police are not the law-enforcement body, but a party whose only goal is not serving law and protecting citizens but preserving regime of Saakashvili, Merabishvili and Adeishvili.

“This is a serious crime and they will answer for it,” – noted Sozar Subari.
