Several Georgian Soldiers Wounded in Afghanistan - Irakli Sesiashvili

June 24, 2011

Several Georgian soldiers were wounded in an operation which killed Georgian soldier Gia Goguadze in Afghanistan, Irakli Sesiashvili, expert for security issues, told InterpressNews.

According to him, doctors amputated legs of three soldiers, while two other soldiers were taken to a hospital to Germany.

“One of them is in a critical condition. Others were wounded too. There is a tough period in Afghanistan now; it is time for drug harvest now. Afghans become aggressive in this period. They are trying now to maximally constrain NATO troops in order to act freer. Supposedly Georgian soldiers were attacked due to this controversy,” Sesiashvili said.

The Defense Ministry has not made any comment on the issue yet.
