Argument on Businessman’s House

July 1, 2011

Gela Mtivlishvili, Kakheti

Telavi District Court started discussion of Inga Sakuashvili’s suit, daughter of the late businessman Nodar Sakuashvili. Inga Sakuashvili requests abolishment of the document which became the basis to register the house in Saniore village in Telavi district on her grandmother in 2007.

“According to the registration journal, my sister, my mother and father and I were registered in the house in Saniore village. My grandparents were registered in another house in the same village. Despite that, my grandparents live in our house now. We found the document, based of which my grandmother registered the house on her name and then assigned it to my aunt; the latter registered the house on Maia Margnishvili though she claims that she has sold the house. As we have found out, she registered the house based on the 73rd agreement. We inquired about the agreement. However, we cleared up that similar agreement does not exist. We inquired about the notice which states that we and our grandparents are separate families. Despite that, the village councilor issued a notice which stated that grandmother was our family member and consequently she could register the house. We request the court to annul that document which became the basis to register the house,” said Inga Sakuashvili’s sister Nana Sakuashvili.

At the trial, the defense side – Nodar Sakuashvili’s sister Ketevan Jinchveladze and Maia Marghnishvili were represented by the lawyer Mirdat Kamatadze and official from the Telavi Registration Service of the National Agency of Public Registry Shota Bakuridze.

The defense side provided the notices issued by the territorial commissary of Saniore village at the trial. According to one notice, Ketino Sakuashvili owned 0, 3730 hectares of land and the house in it. According to the second notice, Ketino Sakuashvili’s family consists of two members – herself and her husband.

Inga Sakuashvili’s lawer Vazha Shoshiashvili requested interrogation of Nino and Nana Sakuashvili and their mother Lia Elizbarashvili at the trial. Judge Ketino Luashvili from the Telavi district court satisfied their request and the next trial is scheduled at 12:00 am on July 7.

After the Rose Revolution, Nodar Sakuashvili used to host president Saakashvili in Kakheti region. The president used to take high-level guests to Saniore in Nodar Sakuashvili’s family; the latter became a privileged businessman during the current government and it was more or less associated with his sister’s relation with Vano Merabishvili’s family (minister of interior). After Nodar Sakuashvili died, almost his entire property was misappropriated by Merabishvili’s relatives.
