Grigol Vashadze: Giorgi Abdaladze Did not Have Access to Confidential Information

July 14, 2011

“Photo-reporter of the Foreign Ministry of Georgia Giorgi Abdaladze did not have access to confidential information in the ministry,” foreign minister Grigol Vashadze said today after the meeting with diplomatic corp.

The minister said Abdaladze did not have access to confidential information; but he used to download photos from several computers in the ministry; so he could reach several documents in them. Grigol Vashadze added that the ministry keeps documents well-protected.

“I am not speaking about secret information. We have both open and confidential documents. Every document of the Foreign Ministry can be interesting for Russia and other non-benevolent states,” said Grigol Vashadze.

He added that there are well-grounded allegations which prove the guiltiness of the photo-reporters.

“We all should wait for the trial because the court is the final institution in every democratic state where the guiltiness of a person can be proved regardless the character of the accusation. As for speculations, as if the government intends to restrict freedom of expression in the country, it is ridiculous to make comments on it,” said Grigol Vashadze.
