Spying on Human Rights Center

On July 20th the Human Rights Center held a special press conference and presented information to media regarding the pressure, systematic and total spying on the human rights defenders which has been taking place for several months now.


The executive director of Human Rights Center Ucha Nanuashvili presented the photo namely the photos of different types of cars which indicate that their owners used identical state licenses while spying. The Center also has the photos of the individuals who attended the actions of NGO and watched the action participants.

Ucha Nanuashvili introduced the special statement of Human Rights Center to the journalists stating that the pressure against the independent media outlets and NGOs will continue in different forms in the nearest future; after the scandalous detention of the photo reporters the attacks are planned against the so-called “uncontrolled” civil society.

Human Rights Center is going to address the Ministry of Internal Affairs and request the explanations to why the law-enforcement bodies are spying on the Center employees.

NGOs request the government to stop mania of convicting people in espionage, to stop intimidation of society by the police, raid against the peaceful demonstrations and pressure against the free media and civil sector.
