Ilia the Second – Whole Georgia Concerned About Photo Reporters’ Case

July 22, 2011

Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia Ilia the Second received the journalists who protested in support of the detained photo reporters in front of the Patriarch’s Residence.

As Patriarch declared, the whole Georgia is concerned over the issue of detained photo reporters. Ilia the Second says that he is not an investigator, but believes the case will be positively solved. He asked the journalists, whether they believe that the issue will be positively solved, and they consented.

Patriarch said that journalists mostly cover negative information that has a bad influence on the population. He asked them to cover more positive events. At the end of the meeting Ilia the Second blessed media representatives.

The meeting lasted 10-15 minutes and afterwards the journalists left the patriarchate. Editor of Alia Holding Dimitry Tikaraze mentioned after leaving the building that meeting with Patriarch was of utmost importance to him and they didn’t raise the issue of releasing Giorgi Abdaladze on bail, as Patriarch expressed hope of positively solving the matter. Tikaraze mentioned that these words meant everything to them.
