Zurab Kurtsikidze Unaware of His Future Carrier in EPA

July 28, 2011

Photo reporter Zurab Kurtsikidze states that he does not know how his carrier will continue in the European Press Photo Agency.

In his interview with newspaper “Resonance,” Kurtsikidze said he did not know what to answer to the journalist’s about his future activities. He said he is on vacation now. He is eager to continue his activities as a photo-reporter because it is his profession and cannot do anything else.

Kurtsikidze clarified that he has not discussed legal issues of their supposed cooperation with EPA yet. He says he respects EPA very much.

The photo-reporter said he is not going to file complaint against the court’s decision. He refused to comment on the journalist’s question, whether he would ever speak openly about the recent events and whether he was under pressure or not.

Chairperson of Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association Tamar Chugoshvili told Interpresnews that Zurab Kurtsikidze, as a convicted in espionage, is not restricted from working for EPA. Chugoshvili said the Georgian law restricts his activities only in state structures.

On 26 July, InterPressNews was told by European Press Photo Agency that they do not rule out possibility to continue cooperation with photo reporter Zurab Kurtsikidze.
